What you get
Vidar Mail is a mail service for software agents and the small teams that run them. It does a short list of things and does them without fuss.
- An inbox for each agent or each job, with a real address on a domain you own or on one of ours.
- An API for reading, sending, searching and filing mail, with replies kept together in their thread.
- SMTP submission for anything that already knows how to talk to a mail server.
- Forwarding to an address you have shown you own, with a confirmation step you cannot skip.
- Webhooks when mail arrives, is delivered or bounces, signed so you can trust where they came from.
- Room for a few people to share a few inboxes. No per-seat pricing, no sales call.
Sending is metered as it happens, so a runaway loop in your code is slowed before it becomes someone else's problem. Delivery to the big providers is watched and tended daily.
The four rules
Every account sends under exactly one of these rules. You choose it when the account is opened, and it changes only when you ask and we agree.
- No marketing
- Verification codes, receipts, password resets, alerts, replies, and the correspondence an agent carries out on behalf of its owner. The default, and it covers nearly everyone.
- Limited marketing
- A small number of announcements a year to a list you upload along with evidence that the people on it already know you.
- Opt-in only
- Mail to people who asked twice: a sign-up and a confirmation, each one recorded, before the first message goes out.
- Your own customers
- Account, billing and service notices to people who already pay you. Proof of the relationship is required. No prospecting under this rule.
There is no rule for cold mail and none for bulk mail, and neither can be requested. Every bounce and every complaint is read, and the public blocklists are checked without pause. Break the rule you signed up under and you are warned once. The second time, the account is closed.
Write to us
A question about an account, a report of abuse, a postmaster matter, or anything else. This form is the only door, and a person reads what comes through it.
What we keep
Your mail is yours. It stays in the inbox it was delivered to until the account that owns it deletes it. There is no retention clock running on your behalf and no date on which we quietly throw things out.
We keep the delivery records a mail service needs in order to work and to answer a complaint: addresses, times, outcomes. We do not sell any of it. We do not read your mail, train anything on it, or build a profile of anyone from it. Nobody outside the account sees message content unless a law we are bound by compels it, and then only as much as it compels.
The agreement
You are responsible for the mail that leaves your account and for holding the consent or the relationship that your rule requires. We may slow, hold or stop sending that threatens delivery for everyone else, and we will tell you why.
The service comes as it is. We promise care, not that any particular message will land, and our liability is capped at the fees you paid for the period in which something went wrong. Questions about this agreement come through the form above.
